Too Many Shania's and The Dating Game

Well I'm fresh from my stint playing Paula in my neighboring county's rendition of American Idol. I must say that I had quite a good time and my cohorts, the guys playing Simon and Randy kept the audience laughing. Both Simon and Randy razzed the heck out of me, disagreed with everything I said, and heaped critism on my over use of the adjective, "awesome." But it was all in fun and I must say that we had some very talented singers. Two singers however; insisted on doing nothing but Shania Twain songs. If I never hear another Shania song it will be too soon. ;)

Part Duex
Due to the fact that I am too lazy to post a full post on both subjects, I'm going to combine two topics in one. Drum roll please. Next topic: Internet Dating.

Recently I have been thrown back into a dastardly little social game that I like to call hell, nah...dating. My friend and I were coworkers a while back and though we don't work together and live in different states now, we still keep in touch. We developed a bond because we were both going through relationship dissolutions together. Her's was a 12 year, mine an 18 year. So you see we understood each others torments. One day when we were discussing our woes laying out by her pool and drinking some kind of frozen concoction she called "R"s' delight, she blurts out what she considered to be a brilliant idea.

"Moni maybe we should try online dating," she commented with a sincere look on her face. "R" you can't be serious," I said in disbelief. Then she went back to sipping her drink and the idea left as soon as it had come. Now you've got to understand the last time I dated, video arcades were still in style and Madonna was, "Like a Virgin." I know nothing of this new techno savvy world in which perfect matches can be made simply by asking personality questions. Needless to say, we both laughed it off and every time we see each other we chant a local dating service catch phrase: "Don't be stupid, call Cupid!" Heheh! I did call Cupid and he told me to take a number and wait in line. I did join an online dating service, just for fun mind you. That went over like a lead balloon. I feel like I'm in a vacuum, maybe it's because I'm the only American on all-Brit service. lol

Anyway, I know that most of my readers/friends are in committed relationships( bless you and I hope you always will be). But, if you were in my position would you join and online dating service or would you let fate take it's course and send the right one your way?

B kind,
B loving,
B blessed,
Moni :)

Moni,

On Shania Twain, I am right there with you. She is ever so very hot, but as a singer she was better when she first began. Does she ever move?

I thought the phrase "Don't be stupid, call Cupid!" sounded like Shania lyrics.

Now, as for internet dating, I can say that I would never have considered it when I was single, but looking at services like match.com, and knowing the experience that my friend has had with it, I can say that I would try it for sure. He is in a relationship with a girl he met online now--in fact, she lives with him now. They were both primarily interested in sex, so there was no acting about that subject. A couple that lives in the house next door met online, and now they have two kids. I think it allows you to introduce who you are first. As long as you are honest then many of the hotbutton issues should be on the table up front, like how you lean politically, or what religious beliefs you have. It can work.

You're right Scott, "Don't be Stupid Call Cupid," does sound like Shania lyrics....shhhh don't tell her okay? ;) Don't get me wrong I greatly respect her for pulling her parentless family up out of poverty and I think she's beautiful...but I don't think she can write lyrics. Of course she's a billionaire and I haven't got one song recorded. Ha!!

Certainly, I do believe that honesty is the best policy, it's just that there are so many that tend to be untruthful on such services. I'm done with the games, ya know?

Thanks so much for your opinion, I think I'll find a local internet dating service and give it a try.

take care,
:)

My condolenses. Twain's hot, but I'd jump off a building rather than listen to a complete album of hers.

Now we know Zombie's Achilles Tendon. ;) This shall be a no Shania zone. We have to protect ZS, or else who will slay the zombies when they come? ;D
